IEEE Computer Society Chapter
With nearly 85,000 members, the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) is the world's leading organization of computing professionals. Founded in 1946, and the largest of the 39 societies of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the CS is dedicated to advancing the theory and application of computer and information-processing technology. The Computer Society's vision is to be the leading provider of technical information, community services, and personalized services for Information Processing Technology.
Computer Society Chapter at IEEE Carleton University
The Carleton University Chapter of IEEE Computer Society aims to extend the activities of the student branch to the academic streams like Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering and Computer Science. The goal of this chapter is to raise technical awareness among students and to promote a career in computing.
Since it's launch in 2006 the Computer Society Chapter has undertaken numerous projects and organized several events to achieve it's goal. The events organized by the chapter include -
- IEEE Code Jam - A first year programming contest
- Linux Tutorials - Turorial sessions on various topics on the linux operating system
- Battle Royale - Carleton University VS Ottawa University LAN Party
- Imagine Cup Info Session - Information Session to promote the Microsoft Imagine Cup Technology Contest
Computer Society Membership
